Wendy Marie McDaniel

May 25, 1972 — September 18, 2026

Wendy Marie McDaniel embraced her Savior on September 18, 2026, succumbing to complications associated with cancer. She was born on May 25, 1972, in Logan, Utah, to James Fera McDaniel Jr. and Roberta Parker. She had a fantastic sense of humor, a heart for others, a determination to excel, and a deep desire to love and be loved.

Wendy graduated from Sugar Salem High school in Sugar City, Idaho in 1991, where she made lasting friendships with special people.

Wendy loved Jesus Christ, her Savior, and that love led her to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New Hampshire Manchester Mission from 1993 to 1994, some of the happiest, most meaningful years of her life. She later went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2014. She had a real drive to keep learning.

Wendy was an unapologetic history nerd, with a special soft spot for ancient Egypt and World War II. Give her an afternoon and a documentary and she was happy. But if you really wanted to see her light up, you brought up her two great loves: Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan. She never quite decided which Michael she loved more.

Life handed Wendy more than her fair share of hardship and sorrow, but she met it all with a laugh, a big heart, and love for her family that never ran out. Even in the middle of medical procedures and pain that would've worn anyone down, when asked how she was doing, she'd brush it aside with something like, "Oh, I'm fine," so she could get to what she was actually interested in: you. "How are you? How's your family? Is there anything I can do for you?" That was Wendy.

She is survived by her parents, James Fera McDaniel Jr. and Roberta Parker; her siblings, Shelly Robertson, Nantalie Cleverley, Tammy Leausa, Mitzi Layton, Jared McDaniel, Jason McDaniel, and Josh McDaniel, and their spouses; and 27 nieces and nephews, and 21 great nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Wendy's life at a memorial service in Salt Lake City, where she lived for 33 years, on Saturday, October 10th at 11:00am at the Ensign Stake Center 135 A St, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Family will visit with friends after the service.

And also Friday, October 16, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Parker Church in Parker, Idaho, her final resting place will be at the St. Anthony Idaho cemetery.
