Salt Lake City, Utah
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Damien Levi Roybal, a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a one-of-a-kind person who left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Damien was born March 5, 1982, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to his loving parents, Danny and Debie Roybal. He was raised surrounded by family and carried that love of family with him throughout his life.
Damien attended and graduated from Copper Hills High School in 2000. He later met Erica Olivarez, and together they welcomed two wonderful sons, Damon and Jackson. Being a father was one of the most meaningful parts of Damien’s life, and his boys were deeply loved by him.
Damien was hardworking, determined, and never afraid to work with his hands. He spent many years working alongside his uncle before eventually branching out on his own. He worked in the construction business for most of his life, taking pride in his work and in the things he was able to build with his own hands.
Damien was known for being stubborn in the best way—strong-willed, solid, and never one to back down from what he believed in. He was straightforward and honest, and you always knew where you stood with him. He was fiercely loyal to the people he loved and stood by his family and friends through the good times and the hard times. Damien had a way of being unapologetically himself, and those who knew him will remember his strong personality, his loyalty, and the unmistakable presence and laugh he brought into every room.
Outside of work, Damien had a true passion for cars and trucks. He loved restoring them, attending local car shows, and spending time with others who shared his passion. His connection to the Lowrider community brought him many friendships and lasting memories throughout the years. He will be remembered by the truck clubs, friends, and members of the Lowrider community who shared in his love of cars and were fortunate to know him along the way.
Damien will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Damon and Jackson; his mother, Debie; his sisters, Christie, Danielle (Mike), DesiJo (Jose), Deana, Tori and Ellie; nieces and nephew, his aunts and uncles; many cousins; and countless family and friends who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Danny; his sisters, Diane and Carly; his grandparents; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His loss leaves a space that can never truly be filled, but his memory will live on through the people and moments he left behind. Though his life was far too short, Damien leaves behind memories that will remain with his family and friends forever. His love for his sons, his dedication to his family, his hardworking spirit, and his passion for cars and the things he loved will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Neil O'Donnell Funeral Home from 2:00PM-4:00PM on Monday, October 5th.
A Graveside Service will follow at Salt Lake City Cemetery. The gravesite location is at 405 N Cypress Avenue.
